Playing with this pattern a little more — the current Spoonflower challenge is yellow and grey (Pantone colors of the year). Not my favorite color combo, I admit, although it was the color for my senior class back in high school. I tried coloring in some of the line art a little, with two shades of yellow, which was interesting; it adds a subtle dimensionality to the design. I think I may try coloring it in some more at some point, see what I think.
It’s pretty inefficient doing it this way — I had to color in a dozen lotuses separately, and if I’d known I was going to color them in, I could have created that motif and then repeated it as needed. It’s all experimenting now, though, and with the snow falling outside, an hour coloring lotuses was a nice break. It did make me want to publish a coloring book…
