Drowning in Possibilities

The next Spoonflower challenge is for a wallpaper that would go behind shelves in a crafting space, which is a very specific and sort of tricky kind of challenge. But I want to try. But it’s so open, I’m a little drowning in possibilities.

I think I’m leaning towards block printing some South Asian motifs, maybe? But those really do get used a lot, especially the simpler motifs that would read well as back-of-shelf wallpaper.

This doesn’t seem like the right challenge for fine detail — they’re recommending non-directional medium-large designs, which makes sense to me.

I’m also tempted to design something galaxy-ish or constellation-y. Oh, I don’t know. Thoughts? Preferences? If I’m designing a wallpaper, what would you like to see me try?

Samples pictured below — though really, once the shelves are full of crafting stuff, it seems like you’ll be able to see very little of the wallpaper? Hm. Hard challenge!
