Jackmanii Clematis

Jackmanii clematis. Great beginner clematis. It’s group 3, blooms on new wood in early & late summer, so if you don’t prune it, it’ll grow taller and just bloom up at the top.

So generally better to prune it hard in late winter / early spring, down to about 1′ above the ground — it can shoot up 10-12′ in a season, and this way, the blooms will actually be at eye level, instead of way above your head. 🙂
