You know, I think this might be the only award I’ve ever actually won; I tend to be forever a bridesmaid and never a bride with such things. Glad I got to go and collect it in person last year. It has pride of place in my library and is really quite charming. I love my little rocket ship.
(I received mine as a service award, rather than a literary award, which maybe says I should spend more time writing and less time serving if I want to have a chance of winning literary awards, but anyway…)
((And oh wait, that reminded me I received another service award (from the Chicago Foundation for Women) several years previously, which I tend to forget about because I think it ended up on my parents’ shelf because I didn’t really know what to do with it, so that’s two, two awards. Woot.))
Congrats to the nominees for this year, and whether the ceremony is virtual or in-person (or both?), I hope you’re excited to attend.
