I’m pretty sure that in order to run for office, I need to file my statement of economic interest tomorrow, and that to do so, I need to go downtown to the Cook County clerk’s office. I’m going to call tomorrow and make sure I actually need to do that, because it’s time-consuming and a pain — and confusing, because I think I file the same statement as a state employee every year, and we do that online, so why do I have to go in person for this?
Regardless, barriers to entry. Can’t take two hours out of your day (minimum) to go file this piece of paper? No running for office for you!
