Day two of a cold — fortifying myself with DayQuil and tea to go teach (Kate Chopin and Keri Hulme, two of my favorite writers). Looking forward to Thai food for lunch with Roshani and Kate Bachus (who is visiting town). Hope to do a few hours of reading this afternoon, then spend the evening with Kate and Francesca Myman (also visiting town). One of our goals in buying a house with a guest room was to be able to put up writers and other friends easily when they came through Chicago, as they often do. It is satisfying to have that actually happening.
