We’ve just taken Kevin to the airport; he’ll be in Berkeley for ten days doing math stuff. The kids are now at the age where they actually miss us when we travel for work — they used to mostly not notice if one parent disappeared, as long as the other one was around. I have had to console them with promises of a treat for every day Daddy is gone. Possible treats brainstormed thus far: nights sleeping in mommy’s bed, video gaming with mommy, pizza and/or lasagne. More to be determined as needed.
In related news, I plan to be significantly lowering my cleaning / work / etc. standards for the next ten days. Consider yourselves warned.
