We need to repaint the back deck to protect the wood, so I went ahead and brought in the tropicals that live there over the summer. I underplanted the fig with pink geranium on a whim a few years ago, and it continues to delight with almost constant blooms, indoors and out. The duranta has come back strong from being badly broken by a small child a few years ago; it’s almost back to its original graceful shape. The purple flowers should give way to bright orange berries — we’ll see
