Worldcon, Day Three

I started this blog post sitting in the Marriott bar, having a prophylactic cocktail, because I was nervous about my next event (the Wild Cards death match), and felt that it would go better if I were a little loosened up.

Yesterday I woke up and worked on my Wlid Cards revision for a while, making good progress, but then had to put it aside for programming. Good panel on magazine publishing, and another later on the joy of cookbooks. The Clarkesworld group reading was great, and then I went on to the Wild Cards signing, where I got to bask in George’s reflected glory, as a long signing line snaked through the hall and around the large room for two hours. Whew! A new experience for me! At some point in there, I borrowed an amazing balloon hat from a gentleman — the kids would’ve loved it. 🙂

Afterwards, mostly just hanging out, in the bar with friends, at the Tor party, back at the bar. Met lots of new interesting people, got to spend time with friends I haven’t seen in too long. Pretty much exactly what a convention should be…

Pictured below: silly hat, Melinda and George signing vast stacks of High Stakes, the newest Wild Cards book, Heather Shaw, a woman I can’t remember the name of (sorry!) and Charlie Jane Anders, Cory Doctorow.

Would post more, but must rush off to Hugos. In the meantime, Heather Shaw and me! 🙂
