It’s summer thunderstorming right now — I went out on the front porch to watch the storm, and after a while, the kids, bemusedly, joined me.
Kavya: But why do you like storms so much?
Me: They’re powerful, and I like the feel of the wind and the rain. And they’re dramatic — my life is mostly pretty calm, and it’s nice to have a little drama.
Kavya: What? How can your life be calm when you live with us??
(Kevin and Anand and I crack up, and she laughs too, but then says…)
Kavya: No, seriously. It’s funny, I know, but that was a real question!
