Was up ’til about 12:30…

Was up 'til about 12:30 last night; slept 'til 8:30. This is what happens at conventions -- even when I plan to stay on my normal schedule, it inevitably slips later and later. Read Carmen Machado's awesome story, "The Husband Stitch" in Granta, per multiple recommendations yesterday (I like the recommendations, keep them coming) before drowsily dragging myself out of bed. Didn't make it to breakfast 'til close to 9:30, but ate, drank, and then wrote 1100 words of the novel.

In a normal day at home, I'd consider that a triumph and be done with writing for the day, but this is ICFA, and I'm hoping to do another 3000 words and also answer a bunch of e-mail. I am waffling between lingering at the breakfast table (where I have tea), and shifting position, to give my back a break. (Writing is hard work.) Maybe a walk around the dining room will clarify matters...
