Wrote a thousand more…

Wrote a thousand more words on the novel. Wrote a rape scene. It is very non-explicit, non-titillating, and I think it is both necessary and appropriate to the book (which is a war novel). If I'd left it out, I think I'd have felt that I was eliding some of the brutality that happens in war, and, in fact, that I was doing a disservice to those who have endured rape in that context.

I still sort of feel like I want a shower now.
