This is just a quick…

This is just a quick note for those still doing year-end donations that if you love science fiction and fantasy, and would like to support writers, you can do so by donating to the Speculative Literature Foundation, a 501(c)3 org.

For the past few years, our main activity has been offering development grants to writers for works-in-progress, and we plan to continue and expand those programs. We currently offer an Older Writers Grant (in 2015, we'll be expanding this to offer two $500 grants), the Gulliver Travel Research Grant, the Working Class Writer Grant, and the Diverse Writers / Worlds Grants. Grant applications are free. More on the grants here: http://www.speclit.org/Grants/index.php

If we get sufficient additional funding, we'll expand to other programs -- I'd particularly like to get our mentorship program up and running. We did a test run at one point, and it went well, but we need to hire a part-time person to manage the program, as it's a lot to keep track of logistically.

If you have any questions about the SLF, please feel free to ask. Our general donations page is here: http://www.speclit.org/About/donations.php

Do note that right now, 'membership' in the SLF doesn't actually get you anything other than our grateful thanks. We may add actual member benefits at a future point. :-)

Thanks for reading!
