You go to the grocery store and buy a four dollar pot of mums that will bloom steadily for the next two to three months if you get them in the ground in time or keep them inside and remember to water them but one small stalk breaks off in the transfer from car to house and you're about to throw it away but you remember just in time that you have teeny tiny vases so water goes in the vases and these little mum blooms no bigger than the top of your thumb go in the water and it all goes up on your windowsill and they are so cheerful and colorful and bright and they will love you for the rest of the week and possibly next week too because mums are hardy as their name says and if they could they would stay with you forever.
