It’s dahlia time in my…

It's dahlia time in my garden! Honestly, there's not much else going on (some mums and asters, in a quiet sort of way), but the dahlias are so glorious, they pretty much steal the show. Totally worth the trouble of digging them up and replanting each year. But here's the question -- next year, do I a) plant the three of them closer together, or b) just plant more of them in the same sunny space?

(They'll likely get a bit bigger next year.)

The internet tells me they should be three feet apart, which they currently are, roughly, but that seems a bit bare and empty Maybe there's something else that should be planted between them?

"Bedding dahlias can be planted 9 to 12 inches apart. The smaller flowering types, which are usually about three feet tall, should be spaced two feet apart. The taller, larger-flowered dahlias should be spaced three feet apart."

  1. I’d plant them a bit closer together. More like 18 inches. When they are closer together, they look more glorious and they help hold each other up.
