What a difference a stake makes! Picture #1 -- undifferentiated mass of weeds that has taken over a corner of my front yard. But wait -- is that a little edge of poky cream? Weed weed weed weed -- why yes, there's a dahlia that has grown completely flat on the ground for months, apparently. Let's see if we can get it upright, the way it's supposed to be -- and hey, a flower. Hello, cactus dahlia! Welcome to the yard. Have some sunshine, and the admiration of the neighbors. :-) Now I wonder what's hiding in that monster patch of weeds over there.
