After all the digging, I spent fifteen minutes just hanging out in the grass with Ellie, reading Heather Ross's book. Trying not to race through it -- it's half-consumed already, and I will be sad when it's all gone. I love all the wildlife in my garden, even the insects. The ants on the peonies, devouring the sweet nectar. The bees busily humming around the nepeta. In the space of two minutes, I saw a bunny, a squirrel, and several tiny birds all dart across my lawn. Life abundant. I feel like both Heather and Hild would approve.
