Big crash from upstairs;…

Big crash from upstairs; parents hold breath, waiting for the howling. Instead we hear, in Kavya's best somber, scolding voice, "Anand!"

She has taken responsibility for putting him to bed tonight, and is discovering that it is not as easy as one might think. (No school tomorrow, so we're not fretting about how late they're up.) I asked her earlier if she wanted to have kids herself some day, now that she knows how hard it can be. She said she thinks yes, because otherwise, I wouldn't get to be a grandma. What a nice little girl she is. But we told her that it was okay -- being grandparents sounds lovely, but she was not obliged to make sure we got to be them.
