Front steps swept…

Front steps swept (thanks for the tip, whomever suggested a broom, it's perfect for this powdery snow), front walk ditto, sidewalk swept and scraped and shoveled (it had gotten packed down by walkers, so needed a bit more labor). Salt on the sidewalk to melt what's left, alfalfa on the front walk and steps for traction.

That last is a Martha Stewart tip -- alfalfa gives you traction and is also good fertilizer for your plants if it gets swept into the beds. It does tend to get grimy on the bottom of your boots as you come into the house, though, so you need someplace you can take the boots off to avoid tracking it all over. On the plus side, it doesn't hurt poor doggies' paws.
