The Christmas decor is being put away, and the colors of January emerge -- white and silver and green, I think. White and silver for the sparkling snow; green for the life lurking under the soil, waiting to emerge. I have some alliums I never got into the ground; I'm going to try potting them up and chilling them, I think, see if I can force them (have never tried forcing bulbs before).
Next time I go to the grocery store, I'll bring home some of the dwarf daffodils or muscari that have started to appear. Chicago's winters are long and cold; you need to start anticipating spring to get through them!
