Antidote for this cold…

Antidote for this cold and snowy weather; gardening and episodes of the charming British murder mystery series, Rosemary and Thyme (free on Netflix). I have cleaned up my indoor plants, including repotting the amaryllis all together in a row (hopefully when they bloom, they won't bump into each other).

The Christmas decor is being put away, and the colors of January emerge -- white and silver and green, I think. White and silver for the sparkling snow; green for the life lurking under the soil, waiting to emerge. I have some alliums I never got into the ground; I'm going to try potting them up and chilling them, I think, see if I can force them (have never tried forcing bulbs before).

Next time I go to the grocery store, I'll bring home some of the dwarf daffodils or muscari that have started to appear. Chicago's winters are long and cold; you need to start anticipating spring to get through them!
