First leaf-raking of the season, first jumping into leaf pile, last lawn-mowing. Dahlias in their glory, accompanied by returning roses and foxgloves -- also blooming are hollyhocks and butterfly bush (not pictured). Hard cider and video games make a pleasant accompaniment to an autumn Sunday, much warmer than it might otherwise be in mid-October. This is pretty much bliss. I feel lucky.
