Why am I so in love with…
Why am I so in love with 'that'? I am reading this book out loud, and I expected there to be some suddenlys and justs to remove, but I was actually pretty good about those this time. But that! My sentences are full of totally unnecessary thats!
About twenty years ago, I had an editor change all the occurrance of ‘which’ that I had used as a relative pronoun to ‘that’. I found this annoying, but decided not to argue with the editor.
‘That’ has many other uses, though, that should lead to the prevalence of that word being unexpectedly high. (I still prefer ‘which’ as a relative pronoun most of the time!)
