I was feeling a bit…

I was feeling a bit panicked at the idea of spending another whole day (the kids were home yesterday too) trying to entertain the kids by myself, so I sent a note to some friends last night asking if anyone wanted a playdate today. We ended up with rolling playdates:

  • 9:15 - 10:15: Otto from next door kept them entertained while I cleaned my bathroom and hung some art

  • 12:30 - 2-ish: Allison B. and her daughter Daniella came by; Allison brought cookies and kept me company while I straightened books on the library shelves, and then helped me tear paper for my book cover design, more on that soon

  • 2:30 - 5:30: Ritu, her husband, and their daughter visited; they helped me take down curtains that needed hemming, kept me company while I hemmed, and then helped me put them up again; they also brought a lentil salad and a bottle of wine.

My kids are thoroughly entertained and heading towards pleasantly exhausted, having played princess and outside and Legos and I'm not even sure what else. I would say the panicked playdate e-mail was a success.

Sometimes, I feel quite brilliant. And also quite blessed in friends and neighbors.
