The dissertation defense…
The dissertation defense was splendid, and I made progress on my niggling leftover bits of paperwork. I wish I could say it was all done, but hey, progress is something, right? I also cleaned all the extraneous paperwork from my office, which is very satisfying. The next paperwork steps are in other people's hands, so I'm heading home for fun and games -- if by fun and games you mean compiling a list of everything I've accomplished in the last year and getting it into my department by 5 p.m. Ah, academia.
