There are small things worth budgeting for, if you possibly can. $10 / week in winter for fresh flowers. $10 / week for wild bird seed. There's eight (!) birdies now, including a cardinal, hanging out five feet from me, squawking and fluttering and ducking into the pansy and herb planter below the bird feeder. In the trees beyond, some birdie is singing.
