Part of the point of a cottage garden is to a) have gazillion flowers and b) have them not look too neat. But at the same time, underlying structure is important, so it's not a complete mess.

This path is getting to be what I'm looking for -- repetition of colors (purple / dark pink) lends structure, the path itself lends structure, and the neighbor's fence, too. But the plants are also spilling out over the edge of the path, softening the look. Going forward, I want more plants (or bigger versions of the ones I have) covering up all the bare spots, and to keep the softly spilling over the edges look. But it's getting there. :-)
