Hey, remember that ‘no…

Hey, remember that 'no white stuff' diet I did for two months? No white sugar, white bread, white pasta, etc. Well, when I got a hideous cold at the start of April, I completely lost energy for grocery shopping / cooking, and Kev was sick too, so we ordered in a bunch and ate whatever we had around and once I actually shopped for groceries at CVS because I had to pick up my medicine and I only had the energy to stop at one store, not two, and that meant that I bought a loaf of white bread, bologna, hot dogs, etc. I was even craving Miracle Whip on my bologna sandwich, and I didn't have any, so I actually took mayonnaise and mixed in some sugar to make my own sad imitation of Miracle Whip, which is pretty pathetic.

Anyway, the point is, I ate TERRIBLY for a week, foods that were either over-rich (loaded with extra butter and oil I'm sure takeout) or processed white stuff, and a week later, I'm four pounds heavier. I've also felt miserably exhausted all week, but it's hard to tell how much of that is the food and how much the cold. I finally felt enough better to go to the grocery store last night after work, and now we have multigrain bread and lots of fruit and vegetables and meat and cheese and our fridge looks normal again.

While I'm still not well enough to exercise, I'm going to rest today and I think tomorrow or the next day I should be up for it if all goes well, so I'm not freaking out about the couple of extra pounds. But it's interesting, how fast the healthy eating fell apart when I got sick, and how immediate the consequences were.
