While running errands with me (half day at school for parent conferences), Kavi got thirsty -- luckily for her, the closest place to get some water was a cupcake store (which she didn't know about, or I would have suspected a certain disingenuousness in that request for water...). Once inside, Kavi fell head over heels for the rose cupcake, which was huge. I didn't think a five year old should eat so much sugar, so I heroically threw myself on half of the cupcake, because that's the sort of thing a good mother does. It was yummy, and she was cheerful for the rest of the errands. One lesson you learn quickly while parenting is that managing their food and water needs is critical to pleasant excursions. Also, all children like cupcakes.
