The kids did something…

The kids did something to their alarms yesterday (turned them off, apparently), and I took NyQuil last night for my cold, so I woke up, saw it was quite light out, panicked, looked at the clock, saw it was 7:11 (Kavi's bus comes at 7:20), ran upstairs, woke her, said "the alarms didn't go off and the bus will be here soon, can I get you dressed FAST", her eyes went wide (literally -- I'd never noticed that actual effect before, it's quite dramatic) and she nodded yes, I stripped off her pyjamas and sent her to the bathroom, grabbed some clothes and threw them on her, sent her down to put on shoes while I changed out of my nightgown into sweats, grabbed her, her cardigan, a box of raisins and a bag of crackers, and we were out at the bus stop at 7:16, with four whole minutes to spare for her to eat breakfast in. I didn't know we could do that. :-)

She was a total trouper. Please note that normally this sequence takes 50 minutes, not 5. And involves MUCH discussion of her outfit for the day, laying it all out on the floor for careful consideration, etc.
