There’s a tentative…

There's a tentative schedule up for next fall's classes -- if it holds, I should have MWF, 12 - 12:50 (Intro to Colonialism), and 2 - 2:50 (Intro to Fiction). That means office hours in between classes, leaving the house at 11:30, coming back by 3:30 -- which is about as sane as a two-course schedule gets. Yay! Fingers crossed that it holds -- this semester's schedule is killing me (and is hard on Jarmila too, since she has to be at our house by 7 a.m.), and it'd be really nice to have something calmer in the fall. I might actually get time to write this fall. (Which is, you know, part of my job...) Although I'm still planning to finish at least one book this summer, come hell or high water.

Hmm...given that we're doing construction on a house, perhaps I shouldn't be invoking either hell or high water...

Plan for this morning: have managed to recover from yesterday's knitting errors (two hours to undo one hour of incorrect knitting = three wasted hours, sigh -- now I know how my students feel). Just got Anand down for his nap, so I'm hoping to do a row or two of progress. Adrianna's coming soon, at which point I switch over to work mode -- need to upload some assignments for my students, and do some admin work for ASAM (publicizing a talk for next week -- Rinku Sen -- more soon; reading through the docs and starting work on planning the Asian American Knowledge Bowl). At 10 a.m., I meet our architect at the house to go over lighting plans (which means I need to review them first). I had thought about biking over -- it's two miles, so should be do-able even for out of shape me. But it's pouring rain, off and on, so I think not today. I'm sure there will be plenty of other opportunities to bike to the house in the next six months as construction progresses.

As for this afternoon -- probably just cleaning and laundry and such, while watching kids, since I go back on duty at noon. This evening, might make it to stained glass class -- I've missed half of this session, but I really do need to finish the window I started. At some point today, I need to re-read chapter 4 of Minal's book, "Salt," and make lecture notes, since I'm teaching that tomorrow. And so it goes...
