The shape of the…

The shape of the semester is starting to emerge -- Tues/Wed/Thurs are my busy days, with Fri - Mon quieter. It's nice; I'm on that schedule in the fall too, which is definitely a bit more relaxing than M/W/F teaching. Last night I came home from the AARCC meeting at 6, to a nice dinner by Kevin -- roast chicken, not-too-bitter chard, apple stuffing. Mmm.. Afterwards, was tired, but managed to clean up the living room, figure out how to fix the sleeve issue I was having and knit eight rows while watching the first episode of Lies, which I don't think I'm going to keep watching.

Then just barely managed to make myself exercise before bed. Slept not so great -- I think I sleep better when I exercise in the morning rather than at night. Going to try to get up early enough to do that daily before Kavi wakes up; we'll see how it goes. Since I finally started exercising a week ago (minimum 20 minutes a day is the goal), only missed one day. Not bad. We'll try for a full week next. Lost .5 pounds so far without modifying eating habits at all. :-) I don't require fast weight loss -- a steady half pound a week would be thrilling. Fingers crossed.

Today, v. busy day with teaching and meetings and then stage managing for tonight's performance of Yoni ki Baat. Tomorrow should be quieter, though -- hopefully writing in the morning, followed by grocery shopping and cooking in the afternoon and evening for a celebratory feast for Venu and Sendhil's engagement. Yay! Sendhil is vegan, so my goal is to make a totally delectable vegan Sri Lankan dinner, so yummy that we don't miss meat or fish or milk or eggs at all. We'll see how I do.

  1. Conventional wisdom is that one should not exercise less than three hours before bedtime, b/c a spike in hormones during exercise will hinder sleep.

I don’t know if that is technically true, but I’m always more wired after I exercise…and it’s so difficult to get my rear in gear early in the morning!

    I really enjoy your journal!

Ayappan, I’m sorry; I don’t have any illustration needs at present. If I do, I’ll advertise it widely.

Lurker, glad you’re enjoying! 🙂 Thanks for the comment!
