[formerly private entry]

And on the positive side, Wednesday morning we had the anatomy scan ultrasound, and all looks good with baby, hooray! No abnormalities found, and they checked all kinds of things -- it took quite a long time, and I was impressed at the level of detail; we could see the four chambers of baby's heart, for example. Baby's right around a pound of weight right now, which they say is just right.

And of course, the news quite a few folks have been asking for -- it's a girl! We're pleased, although I admit, I think we'd have been equally pleased if it were a boy. We honestly just want healthy baby, please. Healthy momma would be a nice bonus too...

  1. Congrats on your healthy baby girl! Sorry to hear you’ve had to endure so much pain. What a lucky baby to have such a strong mama.
Take care of yourself! Lots of pampering is called for!

  2. Aw, fabulous!! Girls are great. So’re boys. You kind of can’t miss. ;D

Sounds hellish, though. Take care, hope by now you’re much improved.

  3. Yay! Having a little girl is so fun. One day, my daughter will be able to choose her own clothing, and at that time, she will finally have the option of wearing something other than pink or lavender. But until then…. 🙂

I’m so sorry you’ve been having such a time of it. I’m quite sure my various pains were nothing like what you’re experiencing, but besides being nauseaous for about seven months of my pregnancy, for the past three or so, Lyra (a very, very long and evidently already quite strong infant, even in utero!) had a foot wedged painfully between two of my ribs, where she gleefully enjoyed the experience of pushing in order to fully stretch out across my abdomen. When it first really got going, I was doubled over in pain and had to rush to the hospital to make sure I wasn’t in fact having a gallbladder attack. Now, one side of my rib cage seems to be permanently stretched out significantly more than the other (seriously). I suspect that nearly every pregnancy brings its own VERY special physical experiences — some clearly more special than others — for each of us to “enjoy” in our own *very* special ways. 😉

  4. Congratulations!! That’s so exciting. Think of the cute clothes. Hang in there, girl. I’m sorry it has been so difficult. Are pre-natal massages out of the question?

Marcia, I have to admit, it’s sort of comforting to hear about other peoples’ difficulties and pains. 🙂

Venu, I think pre-natal massages would be tricky right now; the fibroid that’s been giving me trouble is very tender to the touch. But hopefully it’ll calm down in a bit…
