Finished! Or, not…

Finished! Or, not quite, because Bob said that I can take until Monday to futz with it some more. So I'll take the rest of the day off (by which I mean shower, dress, drive to Schaumburg, prep for and teach my class, drive home, fall into bed at 10), take tomorrow off too (by which I mean catch up on all the Roosevelt stuff that I've gotten woefully behind on, and have a meeting with Janet at 3 p.m. at which I will hopefully not be hopelessly underprepared), take Saturday off (by which I mean finish responding to my Vermont students' packets) and revise on Sunday.

Ideally, what I'd like to do at this point is read the whole thing out loud. I feel silly, reading to myself, but I've done it before and I can do it again. It's invaluable for smoothing out the language, catching the bits that are over the top, repetitive, or just plain bad. It's also super time-consuming, so we'll see how it goes.

Once I give it to Marjorie, she'll read it and give it back with comments. I may wait for the out-loud bit until then, because I'll need to implement her changes, and will then have a little time to fine-tune language. (Not sure how much time. A few days? A week?) It'll be post-Kriti, so I should be much more relaxed.

I can't believe it's done.

  1. Congratulations. What great news. I hope you’re going to be able to relax–November 14th, yes? I do cause it’s my birthday that day. We’ll both celebrate.

  2. Congrats, Mary Anne! I know it must be a huge relief to have it pretty much done. It’s so exciting seeing you go through the process from beginning to end.
