Hey, munchkins. So, for…

Hey, munchkins. So, for the first day in a while, actually had a good work day. Spent the morning catching up on Foundation stuff, sending out a lot of direct e-mails inviting literary press folks to nominate for the Fountain award. Hopefully that'll produce some good results. And then the afternoon was on my own writing -- got a mass of stories in the mail ("Tightness in the Chest", "Other Cities", "The Emigrant", "Monsoon Day", "Under the Skin", and "At the Gates of the City"), whew.

Still have some to go -- "Lakshmi's Diary", "Pieces of the Heart", and "Sister Mary", but I just ran out of steam -- and toner. :-) That exhaustion may have been contributed to by my also getting copies of the first draft dissertation out to Francois and Kim (thesis committee) and Duncan (Melcher, hoping he might be able to recommend an agent), and one copy out to the Prairie Schooner book contest. $25 processing fee on that last one, which felt a bit steep, but one of my advisors strongly recommended the contest, and it does come with a $3000 prize and literary press publication, so what the hey. It's worth a shot, at any rate.

So, that's what I've done today -- lots of tedious paperwork, somewhat alleviated by Buffy playing in the background. Now a quick half-hour of exercise, shower and change and then I go off to a local Asian-American writing group, Kitchen Poems. Haven't been before, so we'll see what I think of them (and they of me :-).

I feel productive. Yay, me!

  1. Not about your entry per se, but more about today. A year ago today you came to dinner, and brought me a Naomi. And she’s fabulous. And i can’t believe it’s only been a year, and it’s already been a year. So thank you! And i’m hoping the three of us can hang out some this summer when you’re in town. 8)
