Eep! I think…

Eep!

I think I might like the haircut, but it'll take a little while to get used to it. It's very odd, having the nape of my neck bare!

  1. Very cute and sassy, MA! You’ll be amazed at how much easier it is to shampoo and condition at that length. Speaking as someone who has had very long hair and has cut it short (not *quite* as short as you just did, but still), it will take a bit to get used to it, then you will love it love it love it and bemoan how much it costs to keep it short the way you like it.

    Of course, YMMV.

  2. Heather took the words right out of my keyboard, all the way from “cute and sassy” through “bemoan how much it costs.” 🙂

I’ve also found short hair to be fabulous for travelling, especially when staying in places without showers and/ or when there’s been only one towel available for both me and my hair. (I still prefer two, but I’ve always been a bit of a sybarite. . .)

  3. As far as short hair goes, I’m always torn between ‘really cute’ and ‘have to do stuff with it.’ I went from nearly knee length to above the shoulders, and later from shoulder to about your length. My discovery: the longer it is, the less you *have* to do with it. 🙂 Now it stays at shoulder (ie, ponytail, but still good for dressing up) length, unless I go to a snip happy hairdresser (like last week. 🙂

  4. yes. yes. I couldn’t agree more. Cute and Sassy all the way. Not to mention that sexy bare nape of neck. Think of how many more nummy neck nuzzles and kisses you’ll be getting with it exposed like that! =] One more plus, the shape of your face is surprisingly elongated and more oval looking, drawing particular focus to your lovely fully lips.

    Great cut!

  5. Thanks for all the nice words, guys. I’m still thinking about this one, and probably will be for a few days. I like the way it feels, and what it does for my face, and the additional curliness now that there’s less weight of hair pulling it down (aided by some product, of course).

I’m not sure how I feel about having so little hair to play with, or so few options for what to do with it. I kind of liked putting little braids in the longer hair, for example, or braiding it all some days and leaving it loose others, etc. This is pretty much a one-option hairstyle. And it does require daily washing and gooping, I think — at least if I’m going out in public. I can just brush it, like I just did this morning, but then it really does look a bit like I have a bush on my hair. Not quite, but a bit. I’m curious whether straightening it might look good — I’ve never actually straightened hair. Is it hard? A hairstylist did it for me once, and it looked pretty cool (and made my hair incredibly soft and silky as an added bonus).

Another photo from yesterday, sans glasses.

I’m also hoping that if I lose the five pounds of exam weight (oh, that pizza — oh, those brownies and potato chips), it’ll look better.

  6. I appear to be late to the “cute and sassy” party, but really, I was prepared to say that before I even opened this comments window. Honest!
