It Seems Odd

Okay, this seems odd to me! I usually grow amaryllis around Christmastime, and in previous years, I’ve done them in rocks and water, because I like the look of the white roots weaving through. But I’d read that if you grow them in soil, they actually can come back the next year.

So I planted them in soil, and once they’d finished, I brought them down to the basement and promptly forgot about them. No watering, no nothing. Some are in a reasonably bright basement window (though not getting full sun), some happened to be sitting under the grow lights.

But regardless, they’re all growing, and one is so far along, it’s got blooms. Wacky. (I don’t actually want amaryllis blooming in September — November is when I start wanting it. But I’m not sure they care what I want…
