Santa Fe trip plans

Heading off the airport shortly for the trip to Santa Fe. Am super-groggy; slept poorly, I think a combination of excitement and stress about all the work I have to do in the next few weeks. People kept asking at the party last night how the summer has been, and I kept giving the same answer — you have four choices for an academic summer:

a) relaxing
b) productive
c) relaxing AND productive (the holy Grail, which I have never achieved)
d) neither relaxing nor productive

Too often, it’s been option d. But at least this summer, it was b. And yet, I still have a host of things to accomplish before the semester starts in a month. We’ll see how it goes.

Plan for Santa Fe: Go to cinema / bookstore event, sign books, dinner with Wild Cards folks (I’m assuming), see Melinda M. Snodgrass‘s documentary, _Chaos on the Bridge_ (it’s a very Star Trek week!). Tomorrow morning, have a birthday spa treatment of some kind, maybe go hiking a bit, maybe draw (I’m bringing my coloring pencils, because it seems just wrong to go to Santa Fe and not make art). Also somewhere in there, read at least one of the novels I’m critiquing next weekend (I have two to read and write up crit notes for by Thursday). Maybe go to the Georgia O’Keefe museum in the afternoon. And in the evening, party with the Wild Cards authors at Meow Wolf! Head home early Tuesday.
