CALL FOR JURORS: Folks,…

CALL FOR JURORS: Folks, I've gathered funds for re-opening the Fountain Award, which is a juried award given by the SLF for SF/F short fiction. It's modeled on the Pushcart Prize, in that magazine and anthology editors can nominate up to three pieces from what they published in the previous year, and then our jury selects the winner ($1000 award). We also publish a list of honorable mentions.

We're currently putting together our jury. If you're interested in serving on the jury, please drop me a line at mohanraj@mamohanraj.com, with the subject line FOUNTAIN JUROR. Please enclose a brief bio. This is a purely volunteer position; we're looking for people who would like to do something good for the field. It's also a chance to read what will hopefully be a slew of excellent short fiction!

Ideally, you should be working at the professional level in the field as a writer, editor, agent, etc., though we don't require that you be a SFWA member. You would, of course, be expected to recuse yourself if something you wrote or published were nominated. I'm currently thinking a group of about five jurors would be ideal, and we'd be hoping to read between May - July.

(Editors, we'll hopefully be announcing the call for your nominations shortly. Stay tuned.)
