For every action, there…

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. I worked really hard on my writing for four days, and last night, I got the kids into bed at 8:30 and then basically collapsed. Despite sleeping eight hours, I'm still tired, and it's going to take some effort to get myself revved up for today's teaching and colloquium. Afterwards, I plan to come home and collapse some more.

Luckily, I have nothing scheduled upcoming except for tomorrow night's showing of Galaxy Quest @ 5 (must make sure I actually have DVD) and Labyrinth @ 7 (must make sure basement DVD player actually works). Sunday, Kev or I will take Kavi out to sell some Girl Scout cookies door to door, but otherwise, a very quiet and restful couple of days approaching. Which I need.

It's tricky, this writing + teaching + parenting thing. I don't want to be the kind of writer who only writes over the summer break, but apparently I can't just write full-steam through the semester either. None of this was really an issue when I was just writing short fiction and essays, but novels need more.

Well, somehow, progress does get made, even if it's not as steady as I'd like. Onwards.
