Gardening question. I…

Gardening question. I was going to dig up my dahlias today; I cut off the dead stems a week ago. But it is a high of 30 degrees (third day in a row this cold), not the 40-something I'd expected. It's supposed to be back up to 40-something by Saturday, in theory, and all through next week, though nature is fickle.

Do I wait until it warms up, or try to dig in this? Not sure how hard the ground is likely to be? I also have thirty last-minute impulse-buy bulgaricum alliums that I would like to plant, and am wondering if I have left it too late
