Just had class; asked…

Just had class; asked students at the beginning if they had any questions about the shutdown. (Conveniently enough, I'm teaching Edmund Burke today, "Reflections on the Revolution in France," so it was even topical. But I would've asked them anyway.) Was slightly appalled to find the dozen of them almost entirely apathetic and/or completely uninformed on the topic. ARGH.

I also asked if they had questions about ACA -- there, at least, there was a bit of interest, at least after I mentioned the under-26 staying on parents' insurance part, and the option of shopping around for better insurance coverage, possibly with subsidies. One student asked me to e-mail the details to the class. So that's...something?
