The children’s imminent…

The children's imminent bedtime no longer signals immediate end of dinner party. In the old days, we would shoo out guests (or flee ourselves) for fear of painful meltdown and hours of exhausted tears. Now the kids (ours and most of our friends') are old enough that they generally just keep playing, or, alternatively, collapse in a heap somewhere. So tonight, for example, our guests left at 10 p.m., instead of 7 p.m.

I feel like we've levelled up in parenting.

(Not through any virtue of our own. Sometimes you get credit just for hanging in there...)

Thanks to Jarmila and her friend, Jason and Simone and kids and friend, and Roshani and family for a lovely evening!
