Summer Reading Book #2: Rapunzel's Revenge

What, you say? Mary Anne, that wasn't even on your reading list. What the heck? It was hard enough trying to keep up when you told us what you were planning to read. I know, I know, but I was helping Angeli pack on Friday, which meant going through her books as I put them into boxes, which meant when I saw this cool-looking graphic novel called Rapunzel's Revenge with a cowgirl on the cover, I had to borrow it. (One fewer item to pack!) And I whipped through it today, and it is totally adorable, and now I'm going to have to get a copy for Kavya to enjoy. I think a teen Kavi could appreciate it, perhaps around age 12 or so. Some of the humor might go over her head. But anyway, this graphic novel is a cross between the fairy tale of Rapunzel and a totally kick-ass heroine who uses her super-long braids as lassos and who never ever uses her feminine wiles to save the day. In this case, the Amazon description is completely right, so I will just quote it here: "Newbery Honor-winning author Shannon Hale teams up with husband Dean Hale and brilliant artist Nathan Hale (no relation) to bring readers a swashbuckling and hilarious twist on the classic story as youve never seen it before. Watch as Rapunzel and her amazing hair team up with Jack (of beanstalk fame) to gallop around the wild and western landscape, changing lives, righting wrongs, and bringing joy to every soul they encounter." Just awesome.
