Just a quick note that…

Just a quick note that we're taking a break from the book club in May, but will be back in June with a discussion of Jeet Thayil's Narcopolis, which has been getting all kinds of buzz. Should be exciting!

We're also going to combine our book club meeting with planning for next spring's Kriti Festival of Arts and Literature, tentatively scheduled for mid-May -- so just about a year away. At this meeting, we'll finalize our wish list for Guests of Honor, and start working on finding a venue so we can lock down the dates. We're also compiling a list of Chicago-local book clubs we can visit, especially those with strong South Asian presence; if you have suggestions, please drop me a line! For more on the Kriti Festival (held in 2005, 2007, and 2009), please visit: http://www.desilit.org/kriti.php

If you're interested in either, please do come by. We'll aim to discuss the book for the first hour, and then move to festival planning. Light refreshments will be provided. If you have any questions, please ask!

Saturday, June 15, 3-5 p.m.
Mary Anne's house, Oak Park (e-mail to RSVP and for address)
