I think I’m cutting this…

I think I'm cutting this out of the story -- it doesn't quite fit. But I still like it as a bit in and of itself, so before it goes, here it is. :-)

"Modern human beings are bound to the authority of the clock, slaves to the monstrous corporate machine. Though one man, Harlan Ellison�s Harlequin, dares to resist, showering the workers with jelly beans, the machine eventually converts him too. At the end of the story, Harlequin mouths the holy doctrine: It is always good to be on time. And if there is still a jellybean or two gumming up the works, it won�t be enough to free them. Mreee, mreee, mreee."
