Kavi is pretty much thrilled that she's finally learning to read. She can sound out a lot of words now, and read some picture books by herself; she comes home from school, takes off her coat, and climbs up on the couch with some books to read to herself, hollering out to me when she hits a word she can't make sense of. I can't tell you how thrilling it is, watching your child get excited about reading. Kevin relayed this conversation to me from the other night, when he was putting the kids to bed:

Kavya: I changed my mind. I want to be a writer when I grow up.
Kevin: How come?
Kavya: Writing is the most important job, because everyone likes books.

If only that were true, baby girl...
