I’m going to take a stab…

I'm going to take a stab at decorated Halloween cookies today; we're having a party on Saturday, and while I can't make most of the food this far ahead, I think the cookies should be fine. Here are some of the options that are tempting me (though keep in mind, I am a cookie novice, and will likely only attempt one or two of these, expecting only middlin' success):

Any other suggestions for favorites? (I ordered some Halloween cookie cutters, but they aren't here yet, so mostly, going with the basic circle shape today).

  1. You’ve probably already made the cookies now, but if you are a cookie novice I think the basic black and white decorated cookies or the gingerbread mummy cookies would be the easiest. What did you end up making?

Another easy recipe is the classic hershey-kiss peanut butter cookie:

Which admittedly look more like Genghis Khan’s helmet than a witch’s hat but are still fun to eat.

  2. I made the dough, but didn’t have time to cut them; I’m actually baking them now. 🙂 I think I’m going to do two batches. Right now, I’ve cut the circles for the b/w cookies, and I’ll try to do those as nicely as I can. And then next week, I think I’ll let the kids use the little Halloween cutters and do a batch they can decorate. 🙂
