I just sent this letter…

I just sent this letter out, reopening submissions to the SLF Older Writers' Grant. Sigh.

Dear Writer,

You are receiving this letter because we believe you applied to the Older Writers' Grant this year. You may have heard that the SLF suffered a series of technical difficulties this spring, resulting in most of the applications being lost. After several hours of work, I was able to retrieve what I believe is a fairly complete set of applicant addresses, which is why I'm now getting in touch with you.

I believe that we have finally corrected the e-mail problem, and so we're asking applicants to please resubmit their application to olderwriters@speclit.org. If you have already received a confirmation e-mail from Malon Edwards, our grant administrator, you do not need to resubmit. If you submit an application and don't receive a confirmation within 24 hours, please do get in touch with me immediately, and I'll do my best to resolve any problems.

We are so sorry for the additional stress and difficulty in what I know is already a stressful grant application process. The SLF is staffed entirely by volunteers, and occasionally, the technical issues are a bit beyond us. But I am hopeful that they are all resolved now, and I thank you for your patience with us in this difficult time.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. And thank you again for your application.

Sincerely and apologetically,
Mary Anne Mohanraj
Executive Director, SLF
