Trying to schedule…

Trying to schedule Kavi's birthday party, which may be a bit early, this weekend, to make sure her friends can attend. I can't believe she's almost three. Shocking. She's now old enough to be quite excited about birthdays and parties and presents, so if any of y'all would like to contribute to the present madness, I should note that she does still have a Amazon wish list. I'll try and update it with a few more items later today.

  1. Don’t you feel a slight sense of guilt or shame for asking people to buy your daughter a gift? It seems a bit obnoxious.

Umm…no? The only people who generally buy her presents are close friends and relatives, who appreciate being reminded where the wish list is, so they can get her things she might actually like, and that we won’t find obnoxious to live with.

It’s not as if she’s in actual need of toys — people get her gifts because they want to, and because it gives them pleasure to do so. Which is what gifts should always be for.

And while we’re at it, I’ll note that Miss Manners would say that the rudest thing possible is to point out someone else’s faux pas. Unless you’re their parent or guardian, it’s not your job to correct their manners. Which I suppose now puts me in that same category, but I’ll take the hit, in the hope it saves someone else grief in the future. I never claimed to be perfect, after all. And I’d appreciate it if you didn’t read my work anymore. Thank you.

Seriously, the more I think about it, the more astonished I am that anyone has the barefaced gall, not to mention the petty meanness, to make a comment like that — anonymously!! — in someone else’s space.

Who does that??? What the hell is wrong with the damn internet and the people on it?
