Sometimes my methods of…

Sometimes my methods of procrastination amaze even myself. I've been hunting for a while for a box to sit on my desk that a) is the right size to hold my camera, cable, and the other part of my power cord, and b) is not ugly or c) hideously expensive. After much hunting I gave up and decided to just make the box myself. With a handy Drop Spine Box Kit ($6.50 from Paper Source), some pretty paper, and supplies I already had from my bookmaking phase (PVA glue, glue brush, bone folder, although you could manage without that last), in about an hour, I had a box that did exactly what I wanted. Yay!

Now of course I want to make about a dozen artsy versions (with cool writing and prints and stuff on the paper) for WisCon, because who doesn't need an art box on their desk? But at least for now, I'm managing to restrain myself. I'm pretty sure I have at least three books I'm supposed to be writing instead.

  1. Very pretty box! You know you have to make more!

(and I recognise the hanging! I volunteer at 10,000 Villages, and spend waaay too much $$ there).

Heh. Yup, that’s where it’s from. Jed and I found it while we were wandering around cute stores in Oak Park last spring…

If you can work a ruler, you can do this. It had VERY detailed instructions. 🙂 No talent or creativity involved, beyond picking a pretty paper.
